Today on my way to a restaurant I got caught in a massive Guelagetza parade! The indigenous were putting on a show near the Zocalo and it was filled with plenty of fanfare. The rich outfits and festive atmosphere was immediately contagious and garnered huge crowds. During these parades, the members would throw out candies, breads, and mescal for the lucky few who caught them. Leading the front of each group was an assortment of various instrumentalists that played upbeat tunes. It was easy to get pulled into the music and enjoy the spontaneity of the moment.
